Kalambaka Library

Τhe Kalambaka Educational, Literary and Cultural Civil Not for Profit Company (KDK) was established in 2012. Its mission is to provide informational, educational, cultural and recreational services, both traditional and online, to enhance the social, cultural and economic vitality of Kalambaka’ s citizens.

KDK’s first project has been to renovate and refurbish the building in the city center that housed the Municipal Library, which comprised just two rooms and a minimal book collection. The renovation was completed and the Library opened on July 19, 2015 in honor of the birth date of George Demoulas, the father of donator Diana Demoulas Merriam.

The new Library is a cultural anchor in the city, with a special focus on the needs of children and teens. Kalambaka Library’s logo highlights its commitment to education, access and opportunity and its goals are to:

  • Develop services tailored to the library users’ needs
  • Provide free access to library resources and services using state of the art technology
  • Offer a place for informal learning and social cohesion
